I haven't seen the doc. The thumb rule is that EFS is faster as storage is attached to the server, and data is not traveling over the network.

Here the OP refers to AWS EFS as AWS' Elastic File Storage. I suppose you've confused it with External File Storage.

It all depends on what iops you are using for S3 or EFS
