I don't think there's a direct upgrade path from 10.5 to something like 23.4. The oldest version that you can jump from is 16.0.x to 23.x.

At the end of the day, it's the same, and you're not doing an intermediary jump into any other versions before going to 23.4. You don't bypass a direct jump by opting to do a parallel upgrade. That's not the reason why parallel upgrades exist.
